January, 2022

This January the cold did go under our skin, nothing special, neither out of season.

Somehow I still don’t feel energized enough so far this month – I utterly love to feel cosy & hide indoors, in some kind of a winter hibernation state and not so keen on spending more than the necessary time in the fresh cold that pinches our cheeks these past weeks.

However, some days I just can’t resist all the quiet seasonal beauty and venture out with my camera & catch up properly with it all, of course.

Like these fantastic hydrangea heads – I still keep them on, some still unbelievably rich in colour, and some, as this one with its petals so weathered that I could almost imagine they’re just as light as fairy wings.

Mornings are quite chilly these days and frosty ground creates prettiness everywhere I look in the garden.
Though most of the plants are really bare to their bones, some of the herbs, like rosemary or this beautifully frost – kissed sage stay happy and enjoy the cold touch on their leaves.

It almost feels as some kind of a privilege to walk the allotment yards on quiet mornings like these. There’s such silence and peace only disturbed by the few blackbirds and robins here and there. If you go early enough, you’re as though transported into some winter queen’s realm with only these winged creatures for a company.

Despite the scarcity of anything new green, there’s so much to go for and find magical to photograph.

The calm is quite enchanting.

A winter view shrouded in stillness of the moment.
